Poll Reveals British and American Attitudes Towards On Line Gambling

October 13th, 2007 · No Comments

A recent poll conducted by Harris Interactive measured the attitudes of American and British adults towards on line gambling, as well as their playing experiences. The poll was carried out between January 12th and 17th in the United States, and between October 20th and 24th in Great Britain. The poll surveyed close to 5,000 people in total.

To the surprise of many, the poll found that there are not so many differences in the activities of American and British adults with regards to on line gambling. Ninety- five percent of American adults who regularly use the internet say that they have never partaken in on line gambling in an internet casino, compared with ninety- four percent of computer- savvy adults in the United Kingdom.

The survey also revealed many differences among Americans regarding their attitudes towards on line gambling. Significantly more Americans in their 20s, 30s, and 40s believe that on line gambling can be effectively regulated, and should perhaps be made legal, than their older counterparts. Of Americans who are 65 years old or older, more than three- quarters somewhat or strongly believe that on line casinos should remain illegal.
